Wild Geese: A Poem to Inspire

                 Wild Geese,  by Mary Oliver

You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees.

For a hundred miles through the dessert, repenting .

You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.

Tell me about your despair, yours, and I’ll tell you mine.

                     Meanwhile the world goes one.

Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes.

Over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers.

Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again.

Whoever you are , no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination

calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting –over and over

announcing your place in the family of things.

The above photo of our Labyrinth that we have at our Tranquil Spirit is an example perhaps of

the metaphor of life— as each of us walk along, some in one direction and another in the opposite direction

and we are all heading towards our center– whatever that is for each of us.

This may relate to our life purpose—- that may have a general and a specific aspect. Regardless

whether our life purpose is to nurture children, to discover quantum theory or to help others awaken through

some difficulty — it is good to keep the words of Mother Theresa in mind:  ” We cannot do great things in this

world, we can only do little things with great love “.

“Circle of amazing women “

For the past month we have gathered in circle here at Tranquil Spirit with some amazing & wise women. We are different in some ways and we are  different in ages & stages; but the one thing that holds us and keeps us together is that we each come from the ‘heart”and we like to share our stories.

One exercise that we did recently was to create our own “soul card”– an idea that Diane got while visiting the wwww.soulcollage.com site . So we gathered  all kinds of magazines and spent an hour or so one evening –and just simply cutting our pictures that were appealing to us in any way– we were not to read anything, just to focus in on the photos. We then  placed them on a 5×8 card and after we finished this, we were to name what that was to us–as you can see from the photo below, each had a significant message to give .Image

Another part of our evening together was that we had lots of fun, laughter and dance as you can see form our photo–sharing our Joy was important and it helped to create a closeness and a sense of Trust with each other

.Testimonial: Ruth ( Bobcaygeon)–shares her view of our class I want to thank you all for sharing an for allowing me to be open and honest. You have given me strength to be.

Carolyn ( Bovcaygeon ):  All I can say is  “W0W — what a Blast–such a great time of sharing, loving, laughing, listening, caring.–looking fwd to more times together.

Deirdre( Coboconk )  :  Just wanted to tell you I have enjoyed being part of the circle of women for the past 4 weeks . it is wonderful to to share in an environment that has integrity, openness and is non judgemental.

Carol ( Bobcayeon ):  I treasure our times together as we shared our stories and experiences. I learned a great deal from each of you –it is a Joy to sit in circle with you. Thank you Diane for all you do to make these circles a reality.

Another exercise that proved to be very affirming for us was to take turns around the circle sharing all the good things that we saw in each other— this proved to be quite a very new exercise for some of us–as we listened to how we were thought of– and to receive these affirming comments was soulful indeed and very uplifting.

This week we will celebrate together the coming of Summer Solstice , and will walk out on Mother Earth and sing our Gratitude to her; and share in sacred ceremony , followed with a pot luck feast. We will do this here at Tranquil Spirit and once again walk the labyrinth.Image

Spring is in the air !

It”s  wonderful to feel the coming of spring through all our senses– and here at Tranquil Spirit on Sturgeon Lake, we hear, see, smell and feel all of these.  And the birds so familiar to this area are back; each morning, John and I see our two cardinals sitting in our neighbors cedar tree and they hop on over to our vehicles– the pretty male one likes to sit on John”s window in his Jeep; and ther female likes to sit on my Matrix.  And John and I are making plans to get our Tranquil spirit and our Labyrinth ready for the new season —-we have our first Day Retreat  coming soon in April- in which I”ll be co hosting this with my friend from Gather the Women , Heather Plett. We are calling it a Day of Creative Discovery– and you can see this on one of my other pages on this website.  And one other event that is big for me this year and I hope flor many other women, is the hosting of Gather the Women Global Matrix this August at TrentU in Peterborough.  You can find the link to this as well on my website/ or go to www.GathertheWomen20 12.com

I love these words from Joan Borysenko”s Pocketful of Miracles when she talks about what kind of energy Spring brings to our planet ; she writes”

” The Medicine wheel turns and opens to the Eastern gate,Father  Sun returns and draws forh life from Earth Mother—  Brother bear awakens and the Archangel Uriel and the “angels of clarity” provide the energy that pierces the veil of fear and allows us to raise our sails to the winds of Grace.

March is a month of coming and going, rthe changing of the guard . Winter gicves way to spring. Darkness gives way to light. Fear gives way to courage. We are asked to fast from the ego”s fearful thinking and fill olurselves instead with Faith. The energy of Mother Earth suppots us in the piercing the ceil olf fear.  Day by day the coldness of winter gives way to the warmth of spring and the first shoots of life ap;pear from beneath the barren ground ; likewise may we beging to see new growth in ourselves . And to feel new beginnings startign to rise within our spirits  !  Blessed Be !

” Season of the Soul “

December is the month in which all the forces of nature are aligned to help us give birth to the light within .  Midwinter has cast a spell over the land, and all of nature sleeps. Members of the human tribe gather by the fire to hear the old stories by which the soul awakens and finds its way back home.  For the last two thousand years, an inspiring Christmas story has been told of an archangel and a young Jewish woman, that we know as Mary. She lived in a small rural village in Judea– the kind of place where everyone knows their neighbor”s business. Mary was just a teenager bethrotheds to a carpenter by the name of Joseph , when Gabriel shows up at her door with an amazing announcement : ” And behold you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will call him, Jesus: ” He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High “.  The birth of Jesus in a stable in Bethlehem is well known and ahs been told countless times over the years. I believe that people everywhere love to sit by the fire and ehar stories that bring a sense of awe and wonder.

The world is filled with the  sounds of Christmas . if you listen with your outer ears, you will hear carols being sung and church bells ringing out !  if you listen with inner ears, you will hear the sound of “angel wings, the hush of inner expectation, and the sacred sound of the deepest silence.

                                       “  A Christmas  Poem  “

Every child on earth is holy, every crib is manger lowly,

Every home is a stable dim, every kind word is a hymn,

And every town is Bethlehem, for Christ is born and born again,

Where love lives in the hearts of men and women.

Bethlehem is here and everywhere; it is the home of the spirit/ the soul. I love Christmas and how it touches our souls. I love how people smile more and are a little kinder to one another. I love how there comes a “holy hush” all around the planet , if only for one day.

It”s also a time to give thanks for the many Blessings from the past year; a time to reflect and to vision our intentions for the New Year. Let us take time to give thanks for our journeys, for the promise of a bright future and fro Peace across our lands.

Peace to you and peace to your house and Peace to all you have .”

Are you a Reason, A Season, or a Lifetime ?

People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.  When you figure out which one it is,you will know what to do for each person.

When someone is in your life for a reason, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. I”d like to edit this by writing that perhaps people are there to learn from you. They may show up because of connecting with you at a workshop , or at a lecture , or even online. I”d like to share why this has been  sigjificant for me over the past 25 years— you will see what I mean when you see the photos that are shown here also.  The one that I”d like to write about today is a collage that I received from my soulsister in Texas- and she has named it —” Live, Love, Laugh”  It was wonderful to receive this from my soulsister & best friend– as it showed many photos of our Reiki journey the past 14 years. We met in Kansas city , MO to attend a week long training towards becoming a Licensed Unity teacher– and because we were in the same Limo that drove us to Unity village, this started an amazing journey of friendship . At the time, my friend was a very good counselor for Family Abuse at a large clinic in Houston, TX.

During the week at Unity, we had opportunity to share our stories and our hopes and dreams. One of these conversations led us to talk about this healing energy known as Reiki– she mentioned that she really wanted to take courses in Reiki as it would help her counseling practice. I eventually told her that I was a Reiki practitioner and Teacher; and encouraged her to return to Texas to see if she could find a teacher there. Time passed and after a while, and several sharings, I realized that maybe the universe was telling me something– that either my friend come here to Canada to take the Reiki training or else I should go to Texas and teach a class there.  And so I did go to Houston , Tx to teach a Reiki 1 class at my friend”s office one weekend in August.  She , along with 8 other students , took this class– and so started this wonderful journey of teaching and sharing .

My friend continued to share the Reiki with her clients and friends and then I returned a year later to teach the next class in Reiki –  and a year after this, my friend came to Canda, to Vancouver Island where my husband and I were taking care of a B&B on Galiano Island — here one morning before sunrise, my friend adn I traveled up to a secluded Buddhist monastery ; it was there that she took the next level of Reiki and was attuned as a Reikimaster.

The photo collage that my friend has gifted me with and that is hanging in my healing room at Tranquil Spirit — is a testimony of many differrent times together , of Reiki  gatherings & workshops, of Goddess tea parties , and more. I am so grateful that the universe has brought these people into my lfe — for a Reason . Live, Love Laugh
